Are you ready for some football!? With Second
Season's
2003 Pro Football Yearbook, you can re-play the 2003
season yourself, for your favorite team or division, or even the entire
league! Every player on every team--from stars to scrubs--will perform
realistically, reflecting what they did in the real 2003 pro season!
The 2003 season featured one of the most
exciting championship games of all time, with upstart Carolina taking
powerful New England to the very limit before succumbing to a last-second
field goal. Will 2003's Cinderella Story happen again on your table-top?
Only one way to find out!...
Carolina wasn't the league's ONLY feel-good
story. New coaches in Cincinnati and Dallas transformed those squads from
bumblers into contenders. St. Louis resolved a quarterback controversy and
headed back to the playoffs after a disappointing year in 2002. And
Seattle made its first post-season appearance in over a decade.
There were plenty of disappointments, too.
With high hopes, pro football's all-time leading rusher exchanged his
legendary starred blue uniform for a red jersey. The results were less
than spectacular. Washington's highly-touted "Fun and Gun" coach spent
millions on new players, but the club could only manage five wins in a
bitter campaign that sent "the ol' ball coach" packing when it was over.
But perhaps the most spectacular disappointment of all happened in the
final few seconds of the regular season. Minnesota--needing only a victory
over lowly Arizona to wrap up the division title--held a 17-6 lead with
less than two minutes to play. Arizona's rookie quarterback managed to
wing a prayer into the end zone on the last play of the game for a
stunning 18-17 victory which crushed Minnesota's playoff hopes and sent a
jubilant Green Bay squad into the playoffs with an unexpected "gift"
divisional title!
Your copy of the new 2003 Pro Football
Yearbook will provide you the opportunity to re-create some incredible
individual performances. Baltimore's star runner went into the final
weekend of the season with the chance to break the all-time single-season
rushing record. He fell just short in real-life, but YOU can give him a
second crack at it with Second Season! Kansas City's workhorse runner
scored an amazing 27 touchdowns rushing to set a new league standard. In
all, eighteen players rushed for over 1000 yards, a several of them
averaging over five yards per attempt. San Diego's versatile star runner
rushed for over 1000 yards AND caught 100 passes!
Want more highlights? Nearly a dozen
passers threw for 20 or more touchdown passes, led by Green Bay's grizzled
field general who lit up the scoreboard 32 times with his passing arm.
Indianapolis' kicker completed the season without missing a single kick,
extra point or field goal! (He later missed a last-second kick in the
all-star game!) Oakland's punter averaged 47 yards per punt--and he got a
LOT of practice! New York's sack specialist defensive end made the passer
eat turf 18 times! And Kansas City's triple-threat return man made it a
weekly vigil to see whether he'd score on another kick or punt return! All
this--and more!--can be brought back to life on your table-top with Second
Season Pro Football Game and the new 2003 Pro Football Yearbook!
With the 2003 Pro Football Yearbook for
Second Season, you get complete ratings for every team in the league, over
1400 players* individually rated! Also included in a separate section of
the yearbook are ratings for over 150 "fringe players," seldom-used
players who nonetheless made some small contribution to their team. Some
of the "fringe players" are stars who sat out most of the season with
injuries. This allows you the opportunity to see what might have happened
if those players had been healthy!
*Abbreviated names are used to
represent real-life pro football players in this yearbook. Players in this
yearbook are identified by six-to-eight letter "codes," such as "peyt.mann"
or "edg.jame."
