1979-80 Season Yearbook

On opposite coasts, two rookies started an NBA renaissance.  In LA, a brilliant, telegenic star deftly stepped from an NCAA title team to the bright lights of Tinseltown- it was a match made in, well, Hollywood.

Up in Boston, legendary exec Red Auerbach signed a quiet, reserved kid from Indiana with veteran hoops savvy who would add to Beantown's long legacy of greatness.  It would take time, but the NBA's future as a global brand began here.
