2009-10
Season Yearbook
The playoff
cast of the 2009-10 season looked much like the previous year, with twelve
of sixteen teams returning to the postseason.
In the East, Cleveland rolled to a league-best 61 regular season wins,
adding components to their roster in hopes of a title run. But a veteran
Boston team roared back in their East semifinal series to eliminate Cleveland,
leading to a bitter end for Cleveland's superstar in his last home playoff
game. Boston then knocked off a tough Orlando team to reach the Finals for
another go at their longstanding rivals from LA.
In the West, the 08-09 champs in LA had retooled for their title defense,
and their 57 regular season wins topped the conference. They faced a
surprising opening round test in staving off playoff newcomer Oklahoma City before
rolling past revitalized Utah and perennial contender Phoenix.
In the Finals, LA and Boston battled to the full seven game limit before Los
Angeles prevailed, despite a subpar showing in the clincher by their
superstar against a tough Boston defense.
