The Designated Hitter
debuts!Oakland's dynasty was in its full glory in the AL, fending off
upstart Kansas City and then Baltimore to advance to the fall classic

West. It was a race for the ages in the wacky, wide open NL East,
finally won on the last day by New York. The Amazin's surprised
Cincinnati, then took Oakland to seven games before succumbing to the
repeat World Champs.
